Trevilon NTester®
v2.2
NTester is a tool that allows an
individual unfamiliar with technical details of the National Transportation Communications for ITS Protocol (NTCIP)
to test devices for NTCIP conformance. Version 2.2 includes:
-
A set of built-in automated
test procedures for selected devices,
-
Supports manual testing
through a MIB browser,
-
Supports SNMP, STMP, TTP
and PMPP,
-
Provides a TestDeveloper
tool to allow users to easily develop their own test suites
(requires interaction with Trevilon) and
-
Allows users to write or
record their own macros using Microsofts Visual Basic for
Applications
While it is designed so that a
novice can use it, the software provides NTCIP-experts and manufacturers an
automated way to perform rigorous testing in
a repeatable fashion. For purchasing information, contact
kvaughn@trevilon.com.

A
demonstration version of the software is now available!
A
flash demonstration is
also available describing the new dynamic object capability.
FTS for
NTCIP
FTS for NTCIP is a protocol analyzer jointly
developed by Frontline Test Equipment, Inc.
and
Trevilon
for
monitoring and analyzing NTCIP data communication protocols
associated with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). It
operates on both serial (RS-232/422/485/530) and Ethernet networks.
Currently supported protocols include PMPP-232, PMPP-FSK,
PPP-232, and Ethernet (NTCIP Subnet Level); T2 (Null) and Internet
(UDP/IP and TCP/IP) [NTCIP Transport Level]; SNMP and STMP (NTCIP
Application Level); and Global, ASC, DMS, and ESS (NTCIP Information
Level). FTS for NTCIP also compiles any MIB to recognize new
data objects as needed.
The new version of this software enhances
the decoding of NTCIP packets, provides the ability to bookmark
frames, and includes decoding of NTCIP traps according to their
draft definition in NTCIP standards.
NOTE: This is now sold as three distinct
products. You will need to purchase the NTCIP Decoder along
with Serialtest or Ethertest. FTS for NTCIP PDF Brochure*

Users of Serialtest may also find it useful to be able to add
serial ports to their computer. We also sell PCMCIA cards that
work with Serialtest.

TestDeveloper
TestDeveloper is a tool to assist in the creation of test
procedures that conform to the NTCIP 8007 format. The tool
allows users to enter a structured set of requirements and to trace
each requirement to one or more test procedures. Each test
procedure can then be defined through a series of structured test
steps. Each test step has a step type and associated
information that is relevant to the type. For example, a GET
command is associated with the list of objects that should be
retrieved and the type of error response expected.
TestDeveloper stores its information in an open XML format
according to a published schema.
It can also generate a report that conforms to the NTCIP 8007 format
(e.g., to include in an NTCIP standard or to publish as a set of
agency-specific procedures) and generate C++ code that can be
provided back to Trevilon for inclusion into the next release of our
software. Of course, any other tool manufacturer is also free
to translate the XML file into its own programming language if they
wish.
Currently, this software is available as a beta release and is
distributed with NTester for free. If you wish to become a
beta tester and do not own a current license of NTester, please
contact kvaughn@trevilon.com.
The original version of NTester is still available for free
download. Version 1.3 provides automated tests for version 1 Dynamic
Messages Signs (DMS), Environmental Sensor
Station (ESS), and Closed Caption Television Camera Control
(CCTV). This version of the software was released as freeware
under an agreement reached with ENTERPRISE, the I-95 Corridor Coalition, and the Federal
Highway Administration. This version does not include
Visual Basic for Applications integration, MIB browsing capability, STMP support or detailed
information about the steps being performed.
